Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2018 is a turn off. In recent years It’s been one of the most eagerly anticipated dates on the fashion calendar but this year, The Victoria’s Secret’s Fashion Show 2018 has experienced its lowest TV ratings ever.

According to figures released by American entertainment site, Entertainment weekly, the lingerie giant has seen its TV viewing figures for 2018 slump by just under 2 million compared to viewing figures of 5 million last year. This years figures came in at around 3.3 million.

There are a couple of attributing factors that could be blamed on the poor viewing figures as the show was switched from the CBS TV network in the states to its new home on ABC Television.

The show was also moved from its normal viewing time slot from Tuesday to Sunday that could have been another contributing factor to the demise in viewing figures.

The annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show aired on 2nd December 2018 in the US and according to Entertainment Weekly, it’s at it’s lowest ratings figures ever, clocking in at 3.3 million viewers for the 2018 show, compared to 5 million last year. Their current CMO, Ed Razek has been hit with lots of criticism for his inflammatory remarks made about excluding transgender and plus-size models from the Victoria’s Secret fashion show.

His statements have led to boycotts and at least one resignation with widespread outrage from people being critical of the brand’s attitude to potential customers.

Singer Ashley Nicolette Frangipane (AKA) Halsey, who performed at this year’s show has also been critical of the lingerie brand attitude towards people.

The annual extravaganza is estimated to cost Victoria’s Secrets around €10 million euro annually to produce and this year’s show returned to the US after a two years absence.

Lots of the most recognised models today have appeared on the Victrola’s Secret catwalk at some time of their career that includes Heidi Klum, Tyra Banks, Naomi Campbell and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

It’s worrying times for one of the leading lingerie brands in the world today and with them expected to appoint a new CEO in 2019, it will be interesting to see how they will combat and address all the negative feeling towards what was once one of the biggest highlights in the fashion calendar.
