Why Celine Dion’s Fashion line Celinununu is for individuals. Canadian singer come fashion designer, Celine Dion has revealed that her new fashion gender-neutral line, Celinununu gives individuals the encouragement to come forward and dress in a way that that makes them comfortable, but insists that she is in no way telling parents how to dress their children.

Dion’s clothing line is designed and targeted at children wishing to dress in a manner they feel comfortable with and her clothing range is not either male or female orientated.

The 50-year old singer who has sold million of albums world-wide and also had hits with “My Heart Will Go On” and “The Power of Love”, was speaking to on-line fashion magazine Refinery29 about her new clothing collection and wants to reassure parents that her fashion line-up is there as an option for children who want to express their own individual fashion look.

She said: “It’s not that we’re hoping to shift gender norms with Celinununu. It’s more about offering a choice and giving children a chance to feel free to find their own individuality, their own true essence without being tied to stereotypes. I think that every child needs to have their own identity, to express themselves freely, and to not feel like they have to be like someone else.”

Dion who is a parent herself has three children, René (17) and twins Eddy and Nelson (8). Celine went on to say: “Anytime you introduce change, you’re going to get a bit of push back – this is normal. We’re also getting a lot of great feedback from people who understand that I’m not trying to tell parents how to raise their children. Every parent should do what they feel is right for them and for their children. We’re just offering other choices and letting them know that you don’t have to follow stereotypes.”

Celinununu is a joint partnership between Céline Dion, and co-founders and designers of the kids fashion brand Nununu .

Celine concluded that her fashion line does not suit her eldest son, René, but her youngest boys Eddy and Nelson both wear the line and they both think it’s great.
