Emily Ratajkowski talks about being a feminist

Emily Ratajkowski talks about being a feminist.Fashion model, Emily Ratajkowski has revealed that she does not care about what others think about her choice of fashion and that dressing in her preferred styles does not make her any less of a feminist than other women who promote feminism.

The American model is conscious to the fact that some people believe she is contradicting herself in the choice of clothes she wears, but she believes she is “capitalising on her sexiness” and has nothing to do with her core values and beliefs towards women.

In a recent interview with the Australian version of fashion magazine Vogue, Emily said: “The only argument that I think is sort of interesting is the conversation that somehow I’m playing into a patriarchal society by looking the way I look and capitalising on my sexiness. But I don’t really care if me wearing a crop top is somehow playing into some patriarchy, because it makes me feel good about myself, and I shouldn’t be limited on that. Making rules as to what a feminist should look like or wear is insane to me.”

She goes on to insist that women need to unite and support each other and that it is time for women to stop disrespecting each other and quarrelling and let women who earn their living from their bodies and looks get on with it.

She added: “No one should be shaming anyone, and women especially should not be shaming other women. “I think there’s a whole other level of women who are sexy and are promoting their sexiness or are comfortable with their sexiness; they especially don’t want to hear it from them. I think in general people don’t really want to hear women talk about these kinds of things, and especially women who make money on how they look: they especially resent them using their voice.”

The 26-year old model claims she has always used her public image to promote feminism and maintains that female sexual empowerment as well as ownership over their body are vital parts of feminist ideas, which is contrary to some commentators beliefs.
