Kendall Jenner angers modelling industry with latest comment

Kendall Jenner angers modelling industry with latest comments. Kendall Jenner has started World War III in the modelling industry after making some pretty controversial comments, published on Instagram for a cover interview with Love Magazine.

In a now deleted post, the 22-year-old model was quoted as saying: “Since the beginning we’ve been super selective about what shows I would do. I was never one of those girls who would do like 30 shows a season or whatever the f*** those girls do.

“More power to ’em. But I had a million jobs, not only catwalks but everything else. The whole combination was very overwhelming and I started to freak out a little bit and needed to take a step back.”

Jenner is facing backlash from all corners of the industry, not only for describing models as ‘those girls’ but for her oversight as to why these women have to take on more work than her.

Before the post was deleted, many models expressed their anger over the KUWTK star’s comments.

Russian model Daria Strokous took to Instagram to write: ““‘Whatever the f*** those girls do’ is do their very best to make their way up and try to make some money so that they can provide for themselves and their families. Oh, and it’s 70 shows a season by the way. And we all are f***ing proud of every single one of the girls that did it.”

Irina Djuranovic also weighed in by saying:” Never been so indirectly and publicly offended in my whole entire life god damn!”

She continued:” To be called a supermodel… how easy it comes to you,”

Victoria’s Secret’s Jac Jagaciak said: “This makes me so angry … So disrespectful to literally 99% of people in the industry — yes, they had to work their way up. Please get in touch with the real world!”

Victoria’s secret model and Ted speaker Leomie Anderson took to Twitter to share her disappointment. “I am shocked but not surprised by this attitude. Not everyone gets to skip castings, get paid more than everyone else and generally work less – it’s not about being “selective”, it’s about not having to put the work in but still receiving all the campaigns and editorials.”

While Jenner has not directly apologised for the remarks, she has responded to the backlash.

A rep said:” The quote was taken out of context. Mid-thought she realised the number of shows some models walk a season is closer to 80. The point was that it’s their path and ‘the more power to them.’ She admires their hard work and dedication. It’s an accomplishment.”
