Fairytale in Denmark for Shane MacGowan

Fairytale in Denmark for Shane MacGowan. Legendary singer and member of Irish band, The Pogues, Shane MacGowan is set to finally marry his long-term fiancée Victoria Mary Clarke this coming Monday 26th November in Denmark.

The pair who met back in the mid-80’s, have shocked fans after revealing they finally are set to wed at the start of next week above in the stunning city of Copenhagen, in Denmark.

This comes 11 years after the legendary musical hell-raiser, McGowan first proposed to his beautiful and loyal girlfriend, Victoria Mary Clarke.

Last Thursday night, Victoria posted a picture of her aboard a plane on her Facebook page, captioned: “Heading off on a secret mission”. Her friend commented: “Excited for you” while others sent hearts and good luck messages.

It’s unfortunate for Shane that his long-term manager and buddy, Joey Cashman won’t be able to attend due to a sudden tragedy with his own family, but he last night told The Sun newspaper: “It’s a private affair for the pair of them but I’d like to pass on my congratulations and best wishes to Shane and Victoria.”

MacGowan’s own father, Maurice who recently was battling against illness hasn’t confirmed if he will make the wedding ceremony, but his sister and friend, Siobhan is expected to attend with her partner although this will depend on her dad’s condition.

Shane who turned 60 in January of this year was born on Christmas Day back in 1957 and rose to become one of Ireland’s most successful singer-songwriters and has worked with some of the leading names in music and sold millions of records worldwide.

In the middle of 2015, MacGowan fell as he was leaving a Dublin studio, fracturing his pelvis and has been using a wheelchair since the accident.

The Pogues are probably best known internationally for their Christmas hit “Fairytale of New York”, which he performed with the late Kirsty MacColl. Even today this is one of the most played songs at Christmas time in counties around the world.

The best of luck to both Shane and Victoria on their forth-coming wedding and we wish them all the years of happiness that they deserve. Fairytale in Denmark for Shane MacGowan
