Britney Spears puts work on hold due to father’s health. Britney Spears is set to take an indefinite break from work in order to take care of her father, as he recovers from a life-threatening illness.

The singer says she wants to support her family and announced on Friday (Jan.4th) that she will be stepping away from her work for the time being as her father Jamie recovers from a ruptured colon.

Posting on her Instagram, she said: “I don’t even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say. I will not be performing my new show Domination. I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart. However, it’s important to always put your family first… and that’s the decision I had to make. A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. Her father is expected to make a full recovery and is said to be regaining his strength at home.
